Make the most out of your ISO international student insurance plan

September 2011 e-Newsletter - ISO Health Insurance – International student insurance!

No matter how strong your immune system may be, or how healthy of a lifestyle you try to live, or even how many apples you eat, you are liable to get sick at some point. In such a case, ISO insurance is there to help. Put our international student health insurance to work!

If you feel you are coming down with a fever, or some other kind of illness, don’t panic. Try and assess your situation: Is this a condition that requires immediate medical attention, or is it not considered to be of an emergency nature? Taking these points into consideration may reduce your medical expenses greatly:

  • For less serious circumstances, your first option should be seeking treatment at your school’s student health center (if available). This would be the most affordable option, given that they are able to treat you.
  • If you do not have a student health center at your school, or if they cannot treat your injury or sickness, then you will have to seek treatment elsewhere. You should, at this point, search for an “in-network” doctor. Find out if your doctor or hospital is with the First Health or Beech Street networks. If they say “Yes” to either, then you are in the clear—schedule an appointment with them as soon as possible.
  • If the situation is critical and you need immediate medical attention due to a bad injury or severe condition, then you will have to visit the Emergency Room. Utilizing the services in the emergency room can be very expensive — this is why you should only visit the ER for real emergencies.
  • Don’t forget to renew and extend your health plan with ISO. After all, your health insurance plan cannot work for you if it has already expired. Please make sure to continue renewing your health insurance policy regularly to ensure that you are continuously covered. It is as simple as logging into your account at www.isoa.org and clicking the “Renew” button next to your plan.
  • Always remember to have your insurance card with you at all times! If you do not have it on-hand during a visit to the hospital, don’t hesitate to call us. We can fax you or your doctor a copy right away. You may also call us to request a new card in case you have misplaced it.

On a side note: We encourage you to keep your ISO health insurance in effect this summer. Don’t forget to remind your friends to renew their international student insurance plan. If they don’t currently have one, encourage them to check out ISO International Student Health Insurance!

This information is brought to you by ISO insurance division, the sole provider of ISO Compass Health Insurance Plans and the leading international student insurance provider. Due to the high cost of medical services in the USA, we encourage you to always keep your international student health insurance up to date!
